the days get warmer
and I swear I’m getting softer
I think of teenage times when
everything felt monumental
every moment mattered
I would wear my favourite cardigan
the one with tiny pockets
and I’d walk to school, wondering how
time passed between one and the next
lately I’m watching entire seasons pass
from my patio window
I wish so deeply to
go back to when the world was small
and everything was significant
I could live in that naivety
just a little bit longer
This is lovely – I am certainly feeling the idea of change being so much when you are younger as I type up my own bits from younger days. Lovely piece, like the way it is written.

oh yes, I hit a certain age and I realized how much I hope for my future children to cherish their youth and their innocence. Back to a time when you really had the world at your feet and so much time in front of you to live your life to its fullest. It is never worth it to waste that time on things that you will eventually be forced to do for the rest of your life anyway.
