78

I’ve dreamt of starting over
and this time, doing
everything just right
as if my failures
were wrong

in the airport
loaded with families greeting hello
lovers saying goodbye,
travellers unravelling maps

terminal gates waiting to be
pulled apart
the sound of wheels taking off,
wheels landing,
and luggage wheeled from
one country to the next
I realize I’m actually all these things:
the baggage I carry,
I’m arriving and leaving
all at once.

  1. “am leaving on a jet plane, dunno when I’m coming back again.” A song reminded me where all we know how to get there but arriving literally then after we all want to come back as soon we arrived. Ahh yes. . . sweet irony plays on each time we leave a place.

  2. Every week, you give us something to think about and appreciate:

“I realize I’m actually all these things:
    the baggage I carry,
    I’m arriving and leaving
    all at once.”

This week is no different. Peace.

  3. This was powerful. I could tell there would be some sort of twist from the very first stanza, but the moment I read, “I realize I’m actually all these things,” my spine was crawling.

“[I am] the baggage I carry”… ain’t that the truth? Sometimes it feels like I’ve forgotten where home is, or maybe more like I’ve forgotten where I am, even when I’ve been home all along. Things come full circle that way, you know?

  4. Though we can’t rewrite the past, we can imagine the future, and bring our imagined future self on board as a spirit guide. The is even a possibilty that the thoughts of a real future self from a tme-shifted slice of the quantum Multiverse will occur…

Indeed… aren’t we always arriving and leaving, leaving and arriving, moment by moment, day by day, life by life, the eternal cycle and only as we change our mind, our perspective, does the meaning of the cycle change.
